Snowdin Start Concepts (Concept Art + Story)


This devlog is about the Snowdin/Winter area that the player is going to encounter right after exiting the Ruins. The starting area is as follows (please excuse the crude drawing):

As you can see, the bridge leading to snowdin is nowhere to be found. The canonic explanation is that a fierce snowstorm had demolished it. The location of the detour and the way that the player finds it will definitely change in the final product.

We have made a decision that Jeff will unfortunately never get to Snowdin, but will instead take a detour that will take him on a journey through the Snowdin Valley, and he will eventually climb the tallest mountain in the Underground (weird but ok).

On the bottom (where you can see the arrows) will be a steep clearing covered in ice. Once you approach it, this textbox will appear:After this, a special minigame will play out, where Jeff needs to dodge obstacles while going downhill on this icy slope. Imagine the Lancer-dodging minigame from Deltarune. More about this minigame soon.
